Wellness Champion Spotlight: Karolina Holman

A wellness champion provides advocacy, leadership and support for improving the health of Kaiser Permanente employees and SCPMG physicians.

Wellness champions are comprised of a cross-section of employees and physicians from across the SCAL region to represent a wide range of perspectives.

Q: How would your closest friend describe you in one word?

A: Uplifting

Q: What’s something surprising about you that your colleagues may not know?

A: I’ve never had a surgery.

Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be and what would you do with it?

A: Be able to communicate with animals. I would use it to improve the relationship among species.

Q: What is your go-to activity when you need to recharge?

A: Being outdoors.

Q: If your wellness journey had a theme song, what would it be?

A: “Joy” by For King & Country – It has an infectious energy and a message about choosing joy in all circumstances and it’s perfect for workouts.”

Q: What is your favorite part about being a wellness champion?

A: That I have the opportunity to start working on myself and then I can invite others to similar ways in which I have implemented healthier routines.

Q: What is your favorite way to stay active during the workday?

A: I make it a habit to walk all the way around the office building, every time I have to step outside.

Q: What’s your favorite memory or success story about wellness at KP?

A: A physician who made it his purpose to lose weight, as he felt hypocritical when advising his patients to lose weight while being overweight himself.

Q: If you could host a dream wellness event for your service area, what would it be?

A: Something leaning towards the differences in cultures and their wellness habits.

Q: What drives your passion for wellness?

A: The idea that every day we have the opportunity of improving ourselves and help others improve themselves too.
